Common questions about company formation
Answers about the service, the work involved and what to prepare. Open a question to read more.
What types of company can I set up in Qatar?
Common options include a mainland limited liability company, which can have a single owner, an eligible foreign-company branch, or an entity established through the QFC or Qatar Free Zones. The registration route and legal form are separate choices. Eligibility depends on your activity, ownership and the relevant authority’s approval, so we compare suitable options before you apply.
What is a commercial registration in Qatar?
The commercial registration, often called the CR, is the registration of a mainland company with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It records the company and the activities it is set up for. Banks, government bodies and customers ask to see it, and the later steps, such as the trade licence and tax registration, build on it.
Can a foreign company open a branch in Qatar?
A branch is one of the routes a foreign company can use to work in Qatar, alongside setting up a separate company. The two differ in how they are registered, owned and taxed, and some activities suit one better than the other. We look at your plans and confirm the current rules before you choose.
Do you help open a company bank account?
Yes. Once the company is registered, we help you prepare what the bank asks for and take you through the application. The bank makes its own checks and decides whether to open the account, so the timing depends on the bank. We tell you early which documents to have ready.
Can you set up the company and then keep its books?
Yes. We can include a chart of accounts, bookkeeping and tax registration support in the agreed scope. Mainland companies generally deal with the GTA through Dhareeba; QFC companies have a separate tax framework. We confirm the route before preparing applications. If we prepare your accounts, a different firm must audit them.
