Who uses our bookkeeping service
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day recording of what the business buys, sells and pays. Qatar’s tax rules expect taxpayers that carry on an activity to keep proper accounting books and the documents behind them.
Our service suits companies that do not need a full-time accountant, or whose books are kept by one person and fall behind when the auditor or the tax return needs them.
What we do
From daily entries to a closed month, the work comes in six parts. We agree the scope with you in writing.
Daily entries
We record sales, purchases, payments and receipts from your documents.
Bank reconciliations
We match every bank account to the statement and clear the differences.
Customer and supplier accounts
We reconcile what customers owe you and what you owe suppliers.
Monthly close
We close the books each month and flag anything that needs your decision.
Ready for audit and tax
Year-end figures and a trial balance ready for your auditor and the tax return.
Catching up
If the books are behind, we enter the missing months and correct the balances first.
If we keep your books, we do not also audit the same accounts. Qatar’s tax rules say the auditor cannot be someone who helped prepare them.

Common questions about accounting and bookkeeping
Answers about the service, the work involved and what to prepare. Open a question to read more.
How much does bookkeeping cost in Qatar?
We do not publish a fixed price, because the work depends on your books. The fee is set by the number of transactions each month, the number of bank accounts and branches, the accounting system you use and how up to date your records are. Share these details and we prepare a written proposal with a fixed fee.
Do small companies need bookkeeping in Qatar?
In most cases, yes. Qatar’s Income Tax Law requires taxpayers that carry on an activity in Qatar to keep accounting books, records and documents in line with Qatari law and international accounting standards. The General Tax Authority may exempt some taxpayers under conditions in the Executive Regulations. We can check what your company needs to keep.
What records must be kept, and for how long?
The Executive Regulations of the Income Tax Law list a general journal, a general ledger and an inventory book, with the records and supporting documents behind them. They must be kept at the place of business for ten years after the year they relate to, and longer while a dispute with the General Tax Authority is open.
What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day recording: entering sales, purchases and payments, and reconciling bank, customer and supplier accounts. Accounting builds on those records: closing the month, preparing financial statements and explaining the figures. Good bookkeeping makes the year-end accounts, the audit and the tax return quicker and easier to prepare.
Who is responsible for the books if we outsource bookkeeping?
Your company stays responsible. The Executive Regulations of the Income Tax Law allow a taxpayer to contract out the keeping of its books, and to keep them on a computer system that meets security conditions, but the duty to keep proper records stays with the taxpayer. You keep access to the system and records at all times.
What do accounting and bookkeeping services in Qatar include?
Bookkeeping services (sometimes written book keeping services) cover the daily records: sales, purchases, payments and receipts, with bank, customer and supplier accounts reconciled. Accounting and bookkeeping services add the monthly close and year-end figures ready for your auditor and the tax return. Our service covers the six parts listed above, and we agree the scope with you in writing.
